Professional Sport Organizations

Look, you probably know what you’re doing as a performer and don’t need someone to scrutinize your abilities. However, you also probably know it is hard to find anyone inside your office that understand what all goes into a running a mascot program. It’s hard to bounce ideas off of people who don’t understand the finer details you want to consider with your next big idea. Think of how great it would be to have a third party sounding board…

What’s on your mind?

Have something you want to talk about but none of your co-workers understand your vision?

I want to start a new program with my mascot.

My bosses don’t understand the value of a mascot.

I’m getting stretched thin between performing and the office grind.

New Program? That Sounds Fun

Starting a new program for your mascot can be fun, challenging, scary, rewarding, frustrating, etc. From figuring out staffing needs to logistics and props, don’t let things slip through the cracks!

I have it mostly figured out, but want to make sure I didn’t miss anything.

I have ideas but am stuck on a specific issue.

I want to start a program but don’t know how.

Nobody I work for gets it.

It’s hard for some people to see the value a solid mascot brings to the table. What can you do to prove to your bosses wrong?

I need help getting the spotlight on my character.

I need help pitching ideas to decision makers.

I’m floundering for ideas to get my point across.

Wait, I have to work in an office?

Adjusting to the office side of things is tough for newer performers coming from part-time positions or fresh out of college.

How do you manage your calendars?

Do you have responsibilities outside of performing?

What is your daily / weekly routine?

Wait, I clock more hours than anyone else…

Unfortunately being a professional performer means you most likely work more than anyone else in the office with off-site appearances outside of typical working hours.

How is your mental health impacted?

Are you compensated for the extra work?

Can you delegate appearances to backup performers?

Backup performers, what’s that?

It sucks to not perform for every appearance your character makes, but having quality backup performers alleviates a ton of stress on you to make everything happen. Same goes for having trusted handlers to keep you safe.

Do you have trusted backup performers and handlers?

Are there obstacles to having backups and handlers?

I don’t trust others to perform as my character…
